Almost a Year Old

Hank is doing well. Almost a year old and really close to walking. He'll take several steps if he's got a hold of your fingers, and occasionally he'll stand up in the middle of the floor on his own.

He knows how to throw, and knows how to throw food on the floor so Daisy will eat it. He can say "Mama," "Dada," "Duck," "This" (which means pretty much anything that he's pointing at), and when he touches the little beads at the bottom of a curtain we have, he says "Gentle" (probably because we say "gentle" over and over again so he won't rip them off).

The Johnson Simpsons

Burger King has this fun site where you can "Simpsonize" a photo of yourself. You upload a photo and it magically transforms you into a member of The Simpsons (basically all of my simple dreams come true). Here is what the Johnsons would look like if they moved in across the street from the Flanderses in Springfield.

Dudes Weekend

Last weekend, Hank and I went on a dudes weekend to Grand Rapids to visit our friends Gerard and Kim from Guatemala (with their kids Max & Zoe) and our other friends Josh and Cindy (and their son Ben).

We just hung out in this big house on a lake, went swimming, played pool and foosball, put on shows and generally had fun.

The photos prove it.

 Everybody
Max, Ben, Hank, Zoe.
It was pretty much like this the whole time.

 12 Step Program
This house had four half-flights of carpeted stairs.
Hank would just start at the bottom and work his way
all the way up from the basement to the second floor.

 Train
This house was a treasure trove of toys.

Grinnin'
He's imitating the Cherry Hut face on his shirt.

 Music to our ears
Hank and Zoe were sorta close in age, so they hung out a lot.

Chairy
There was this great chair that we called the Whorehouse Chair
(for obvious reasons) that was the perfect size for kids.
